Turbulence
I want to share a personal story that had a profound impact on my faith and my understanding of divine communication. It all happened during a flight back home from work.
I have this habit of talking to God on random occasions, asking for little signs or just having a conversation. Before boarding the plane, I said a little prayer: “God, please make the best person occupy the seat beside me so that I can be entertained or have a good time.” With that request in my heart, I boarded the plane, eager to see who would sit next to me.
To my surprise, when I reached my seat, the one beside me was empty. No one had booked it. I sat there, puzzled, wondering what this could mean. Was God trying to tell me something? Maybe I was meant to spend this time alone, reflecting, or perhaps I was the best person to keep myself company. It dawned on me that this might be an opportunity to converse more deeply with myself and with God.
As the plane took off, I couldn’t shake off the feeling of curiosity. What was the purpose of the empty seat? It felt like a sign, urging me to delve into my own thoughts and connect more deeply with my faith.
In a moment of boldness, I decided to test my connection with God further. I whispered, almost playfully, “God, if you are listening to me and happy with me, please make this flight go through the roughest turbulence I’ve experienced yet.” Mind you, I haven’t taken many flights, so my benchmark for turbulence wasn’t very high.
What happened next was beyond belief. The plane started to shake, and the turbulence grew fiercer with each passing minute. People were holding onto their seats, some even falling off. Despite the chaos, I felt an overwhelming sense of joy and reassurance. It was as if God was giving me a clear, unmistakable sign that He was listening.
The turbulence, while frightening to others, was a divine confirmation for me. I felt an incredible bond, knowing that my prayers and conversations with God were heard. I realized that the empty seat was a lesson in itself – sometimes, the best company is our own, and the most meaningful conversations are the ones we have with the divine.
As the plane stabilized, I leaned back in my seat, my heart filled with renewed faith. The empty seat was no longer a mystery but a profound lesson in solitude and divine connection. The turbulence was a testament to my faith, a reminder that I am never truly alone.
Interpretations:
- Faith and Solitude: The empty seat symbolized a divine message that solitude can be the best company, encouraging me to look within and strengthen my personal connection with God.
- Testing Faith: The turbulence represented the trials that come with faith. My request for turbulence and the subsequent rough flight highlighted my desire for confirmation and validation of my beliefs.
- Divine Communication: This experience reflected the idea that God listens to our prayers and responds in unexpected ways, reinforcing the belief that faith is a powerful and personal journey.
